This venue opened up doing everything right. They choose the cream of NYC jazz. They've designed the space to be as fun as it is luxurious. The people are simply the best in this business. So the vibe and the sounds are a memorable experience.

Came here on a whim on a Friday afternoon and honestly couldn't believe how easy it was to snag a reservation last minute, not complaining at all! The vibe inside is fantastic, the steak tartare is delicious, and the drinks are on point. Easily one of the best jazz club experiences I've had in New York. Only gripe: the breaks between sets are about 30 minutes, which feels a bit long. Tighten that up and this place would be perfect.

Harlem, Manhattan · 402 reviews

Visiting Bill's Place in Harlem was one of the absolute highlights of my trip. The moment I stepped inside, I was welcomed with warmth and charm by the wonderful hostess, whose kindness and enthusiasm set the tone for the entire evening. The atmosphere feels intimate, authentic, and full of history. Bill Saxton himself is an incredible bandleader-his talent, energy, and connection with both the music and the audience create an unforgettable experience. The performance was powerful, soulful, and deeply rooted in Harlem's jazz tradition. You don't just listen to the music here-you feel it. Bill's Place is a rare gem where genuine hospitality meets top-tier jazz. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special night in New York. Greetings from Czech Republic <3

Wonderful new jazz club in midtown. The finger food was wonderful and paired well with the drinks. The seating is very close to stage. Perfect candlelight date night. The ticket and food together is $90 for each person at a minimum.

This is a nice place that my wife and I were always looking for. A place cozy, with live music and good food to have a relaxing moment. We're been here few times already, and we liked it, but there's room for improvement. The first presentation (video included) was ok. It seems they were not 100% prepared for the event and it lacked a good presentation, introduction and production in general. We were a bit disappointed. The service was good and the food is great for the place. The next visit was better in the music presentation and atmosphere, but service was ok, not great. I definitely recommend the place, but hopefully they can improve more. This place needs more support by the community. The several times we went, it's been just few people. Not good to keep the business. Support them please.

Best jazz show I've seen in a while! The venue was intimate and the musicians were incredibly talented. You can really tell the owner, Mark, is passionate about the genre. Plus, the Japanese kitchen upstairs was delicious! The crowd and ambiance were unbeatable--I can't wait to come back

enjoyed by myself, was an amazing experience, as always. Tonight enjoyed terrific jazz interpretations by Anderson twins of the American songbook with swing era textures, color contrast with their different and complementary instruments, uniquely good twin phrasing because they are! Went for the great sound of the room, specifically this music, sax clarinets flute + great backing band including drummer pianist and bass who had their own great solos. Easy to be alone, requested fringe solo elevated table matching backed chair, highest tier at the back wall near kitchen so decent ventilation, traffic so no stagnant air. Terrific integrated sound at such seating. Enjoyed the fruit and cheese plate, which was fine to meet the minimum. Kept my mask on as much as possible because 850,000 new cases today of COVID in the USA, still killing, with >80% over 65 y/o and I anticipate returning.

Ornithology Jazz Club

Brooklyn · 848 reviews

New York has so many places for live music, but as someone who really appreciates good jazz, Ornithology stands out to me. They have two different spaces, one is more of a restaurant with a classic, seated vibe and the other is a bar with more energy. Personally, I prefer the bar and always want to sit there as soon as possible. Also, for students, they offer a great 50% discount, so the entry is about $10, which is really nice. My first visit was honestly amazing, just phenomenal. The music, the atmosphere, everything felt alive and special. They don't always have the same energy like this Saturday, I was a bit disappointed. It's just not the same when you expect that energy and live jazz and it doesn't quite happen. I would still come back, just hoping for a more consistent flow next time

Taylor's Tayke: Cafe Ornithology is one of those spots where the experience goes beyond just the food. It's an intimate, all-vegan jazz club that really leans into atmosphere and community. The space is split into two areas, a larger room where you dine and a smaller, more intimate performance space that really pulls you into the music. That smaller room especially creates a close, immersive vibe that makes the night feel personal. My Tipsy Tayke: Both the Rezabal Rose and Millet Chardonnay were crisp, clean, and easy to drink without being overly dry. Great options to sip on while enjoying the music. My Taysty Tayke: Standouts: Sweet Potato Roll, Pizza Dough The Sweet Potato Roll was a highlight, flavorful and well balanced. The Lahmacun Pizza had a really good dough base, and while the combination is a bit unique, it works and makes for an interesting bite. The Hummus was solid and well executed. The Eggplant Roll was moist and hearty, though a bit heavy on the chew. Service: Smooth and accommodating, fits the relaxed and intimate setting. Plates From My Visit: Eggplant Roll Sweet Potato Roll Lahmacun Pizza Hummus Rezabal Rose Millet Chardonnay In Conclusion: A unique, music-driven dining experience with solid vegan dishes and a strong atmosphere. Perfect for a chill night out where the vibe and live jazz are just as important as the food. Stamped by Elajas

Visited for the first time to watch Bill O'Connell Quintet featuring Randy Brecker perform live, and it was an incredible experience. The combination of world-class jazz and the stunning nighttime views of the Manhattan skyline made for the perfect end to a birthday celebration. The entire set was phenomenal, and every solo was a highlight. Huge compliments to Bill O'Connell (piano), Randy Brecker (trumpet), Craig Handy (tenor saxophone), Lincoln Goines (bass), and Billy Hart (drums) for such an unforgettable performance. There was a cover charge, along with a $25 per person minimum spend, which we felt was well worth it. The drinks were great, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We'd definitely love to come back for another live jazz night!

Fantastic live jazz, great drinks, and a wonderfully inviting atmosphere. It's an excellent spot for any jazz lover, with music that really shines and a vibe that keeps you relaxed and engaged throughout the night. I especially want to highlight the non alcoholic negroni. It was so delicious and genuinely flavorful, which made it the perfect alternative for me since I cannot drink alcohol. I highly recommend this place!

West Village, Manhattan · 3,718 reviews

Located in West Village, this jazz venue offers a great range of good quality jazz live music. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the drink prices felt reasonable by Manhattan standards. That said, the experience did not fully match my expectations. The venue is quite small and located in a basement space that felt less comfortable than I had anticipated. Admission was $35 (pre-booked) per person, and guests are also required to purchase at least one drink each. The performance itself was enjoyable, but at only 1 hour in length; much shorter than expected. After the show, guests are given less than 30 minutes to finish their drinks and leave before the next audience is admitted.

I absolutely loved the jazz, and the seating arrangement is ideal. From nearly anywhere in the room, you get great sightlines and excellent sound, which makes for an immersive, comfortable listening experience. The non alcoholic beverage options were a little limited, but everything else more than makes up for it. I still highly recommend this place.

Tomi Jazz

Tomi Jazz in NYC was such a cute date night spot. Just know before you go, they don't take reservations, and the place is small. I had seen reviews saying the average wait was around 1.5 hours, and that was pretty much exactly how long we waited. Honestly though, it was worth it. Once they led us downstairs and inside, it felt like we had stepped into this cozy little underground Tokyo jazz bar. The whole place had such a warm, intimate vibe, and the live music was actually so good. Very cozy, very date night, very much worth the wait. We ordered the omelet rice with demi-glace, cod roe spaghetti, and some sake. Everything fit the vibe perfectly, comforting, flavorful, and fun to share while listening to the music. Overall, Tomi Jazz is a super cute Japanese jazz bar and I'd definitely recommend it for a date night. Just be ready to wait, and keep in mind there's a 2-hour table limit. Live music times: Sunday to Thursday: 6:00pm to 8:30pm and 9:00pm to 11:30pm Friday and Saturday: 5:30pm to 9:00pm and 9:30pm to 1:00am

Visited from out of town and wanted to visit a jazz supper club. Smoke did not disappoint! We ended up with late show tickets so we arrived early to have dinner. I am pescatarian and they had several options. I ended up with salmon which was delicious! They have a great selection of cocktails and wine as well. They offer outdoor seating and were showing the World Cup which was great. The space is sexy and the staff is very attentive and kind. The music venue is intimate and every seat is a great seat! We were seated next to the drummer which was quite the experience. The Emmet Cohen Trio was great! Overall it was a fabulous experience and I highly recommend visiting. I know I'll be back when I'm in town again!

What a discovery for us, both as music lovers and healthy but fun foodies. Five Spot Jazz offers a great space for live music, especially jazz. The setting is very well designed, efficient yet elegant, and intimate with a great view of the stage. The cover charge for music is $20, next to nothing relative to the quality of music that is offered. The food is excellent, mostly Japanese inspired, with a great sense of flavors and variety. Really a gem in East Village. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our evening at the Aman Jazz Club. The musicians were really talented and the show was great. Interesting crowd as well, people watching was fun. We came a little earlier and was able to snatch the best seats in the house - right in front of the stage. Seating seems to be first come first serve. Drinks and service was decent, we didn't try the food but will next time. Well done, Aman!

I've been coming to Arthur's Tavern for 18+ years, and it's still one of my favorite spots in the city. The space has a modern feel (post Covid reno) while still keeping the classic charm that makes it so special. There's a $15 minimum per person, but it's absolutely worth it when you consider the quality of the live music. There are always fantastic bands playing and the atmosphere is unbeatable. The service is impressively friendly too, especially given how busy they tend to be most nights. It's the kind of place that feels both timeless and refreshed, a true West Village gem I'll keep coming back to.

I think this is a fun place. The music is good. The vibes are nice. Lots of couples, girl groups, and a few families with older kids. You do need to make a reservation in advance but they are not likely to seat you until maybe 15 min. after your reservation so you won't have a lot of time to talk before but you also need to pay quickly because there are multiple seatings so you can't linger. I thought the cocktails were generally good. They have a number of non-alcoholic options. The fries were delicious and shareable. A friend ordered a Negroni that tasted oddly like an old fashioned and another friend ordered a wine they're familiar with that just tasted like it had been open for too long. The music was good but you can't see the performers very well if you're on the left side of the room so try and get there early if that's important to you. Remember you can't talk while the performers are playing.
