I took the Intro to Stand Up Comedy class with Chis Griggs. I thoroughly enjoyed the class. I learned how to structure jokes. I am a natural storyteller and very verbose, so learning to edit down was hard. However, Chris is skilled and masterful at what he does, and I was able to get it done with his guidance and support. Who I was at the start of the class and what I presented at the grad show, night and day. Lastly, I love how he avails himself to the students and helps us to build friendships outside of the class. Thank you to the PIT for creating a safe space for me to explore and thank you Chris for being amazing. image: taken by my friend Dionne at the grad show

I've been here a couple times. It only holds 450 people so all the seats are good, really. I have to say the aisles are a little close together. It doesn't seem to have a sense of modern luxury. My knees were crushed against the seat in front of me. On my recent visit I forgot to wear my hearing aids, but like most places these days they have some sort of device. The device they have is slightly bizarre. Kind of like a stethoscope. Spring loaded into your ears and hanging under your chin. The sound was TERRIBLE. All I could think was that no one had considered the sound in a long time. I could only hear the piano. The sound cracked a popped and went in and out. Like a short circuit. It was unusable. At the Met opera they have 2 different devices. One actually plays thru your hearing aids, the other is just normal headphones. The staff was cheerful . The girl that helped me apologized for the bad sound and said others had complained. I didn't have a terrible time. But it could have been better.

Last week Friday, I visited this theater to see Kpop boy group Ampers&one on their current tour. The show was incredible; the boys had so much energy and the crowd made the show all the more exciting. My only gripe was the long wait and all of the standing around. I arrived around 12 p.m. and there was a long line of people that still haven't gotten checked in. By the time it was my turn to get checked in with my number, it was almost time for the fansign event to start at 4. So, I had to wait until afterwards to get merch. It didn't help that it started raining. A staff member that works for the theater explained that the tour staff were not being communicative so there was a lot of confusion. The tour company, LeoPresents, needs better organization and more staff to help them out. I am not faulting the staff at the theater, but something seriously needs to be done with how poorly managed these Leo tours are.

Hadn't been to this den of dancing and liberation in YEARS but went back last weekend for what was supposed to be a The Blessed Madonna dj party. The Blessed Madonna had to cancel last minute but I was still down to check out the vibes and scene to see how much or little had changed since the last time I went to the club. Glad to say that not much that I can see has changed as far as HOY being the most inclusive, fun, free, lit up dance-floors in the city. There was a security guard that approached us as my friends and I were leaving and I guess she spotted me in my wheelchair and wanted to help show us to a different dance floor around the corner out back. Wherever that was reminded me of the magic of House of Yes because it was a totally different dj and vibe. All in all, the club is still alive.

Absolutely awesome venue! A great place to hear music and a fab spot to play a show. The on-stage sound was killer; we were able to play at a comfortable volume hear each other clearly, which allows us to enjoy the set and just make some music. Backline is thorough and as advertised (rare these days) and the staff, from sound to FOH are friendly and helpful. There's a great greenroom upstairs for performers as well.

Great small venue for intimate performances. It's what you imagine when you want to go see an off Broadway play. The seats are comfortable and dive in a stadium seating style. The only negative is that the bathroom is on the rear left of the stage. This means is impossible to go without interfering with the flow of the post. Luckily the play I saw was more casually telling stories so the interruptions were made into part of the play, but I can see it being a problem if a play is more traditional.

The play The Audit & The American Dream were performed. I didn't stay for the 2nd play The American Dream, but The Audit was AMAZING. It was brilliantly written and performed. I've never seen nor read a more perfect 2 person show that fluidly wove the stories is adequately discussed and engaged the audience with. If you want to see a performance done right, this is a must see. I met the writer and composer and their presence is electric. I could have talked with them for hours about the play and their perspective. It allows the viewer to connect with the subjects at your exact awareness and understand the plight of the character. Bravo to Urban Stages and to the company that worked on The Audit. I can safely assume the American Dream broke legs too.

Today I saw The Amazing Sex Life of Rabbits by Michael Shaw Fisher at SoHo Playhouse, and it turned out to be much smarter and more touching than the provocative title might suggest. The play uses absurd humor and bold visual metaphors to explore very human themes: relationships, intimacy, vulnerability, and the ways we try to understand each other. It's funny, a bit daring, and unexpectedly emotional at the same time. The actors perform with great energy and self-awareness, making even the strangest and most comedic moments land perfectly and genuinely funny. Beneath the humor, there are surprisingly sharp observations about modern love and human nature. It's one of those rare cases where experimental theater still feels accessible and alive. Bold, witty, and truly entertaining.

Littlefield was packed to the brim Saturday night and I can see why, The Love Isn't Blind team have figured out something unique about dating these days. Men need to talk less and let the women take the lead (sometimes, they're smarter). But back to Littlefield - they did a great job managing the large crowd as the bar stayed busy as well. The team had a spot ready for my wheelchair thank goodness which made the experience all the better.

Now THIS was the definition of a small, intimate comedy theater. The Vino was our landing spot to see Dylan Adler and his comedy set a few months ago and we had a great time. I didn't realize how small and intimate-feeling the theater would be but it works to really witness talent on stage without paying high prices. Seating was cozy and the stage crew did a great job amplifying the performance. The theater itself seemed a bit older than usual and could use some work, particularly the bathroom and perhaps offering some sort of drinks for sale. I know they advertised as BYOB but sometimes a guy forgets when they're getting off the train in Brooklyn and staring at their maps app to find the spot.

Tomi Jazz in NYC was such a cute date night spot. Just know before you go, they don't take reservations, and the place is small. I had seen reviews saying the average wait was around 1.5 hours, and that was pretty much exactly how long we waited. Honestly though, it was worth it. Once they led us downstairs and inside, it felt like we had stepped into this cozy little underground Tokyo jazz bar. The whole place had such a warm, intimate vibe, and the live music was actually so good. Very cozy, very date night, very much worth the wait. We ordered the omelet rice with demi-glace, cod roe spaghetti, and some sake. Everything fit the vibe perfectly, comforting, flavorful, and fun to share while listening to the music. Overall, Tomi Jazz is a super cute Japanese jazz bar and I'd definitely recommend it for a date night. Just be ready to wait, and keep in mind there's a 2-hour table limit. Live music times: Sunday to Thursday: 6:00pm to 8:30pm and 9:00pm to 11:30pm Friday and Saturday: 5:30pm to 9:00pm and 9:30pm to 1:00am

Beautiful ambience. It's a gorgeous establishment and we got wonderful front row seats to the stage. The cocktails were delicious and quite strong, but the dining service is where the evening quickly went south. An hour and a half for an appetizer that never came out- a server came by twice to ask us about it, and each time I said it hadn't come out. A completely different server came a third time to ask about it, when I eventually told them to just forget about it. Tried to order something different only to be told (an hour and a half into our wait) that the kitchen had closed 30 minutes ago as food continued to be brought out to other tables. A lovely shoutout to The New Wonders, who were an incredible band tonight. The singer/trumpet & trombone player came up and complimented how the folks at my table and I were dressed. Eat at any of the other incredible restaurants in the city, then come to St. Mazie's for the jazz and the drinks and save yourself an evening of disappointing service.

Went for Praise the Disco and it was a lovely vibe. The staff from the bouncers to the bartenders to coat check were all very very lovely. I was delighted to see Presidente beer which I have yet to see in a non Dominican bar/club in nyc or Brooklyn :) The interior decor is gorgeous with such lovely visuals and lighting, whoever set it up and designed it are some very talented people!! Lovely to be surrounded images of Black music legends among others my only critiques are that the setup of the location, while I understand may be to maximize how many people can fill the space, doesn't flow well to me. This is important to me in a club I go dancing in. When u enter it is through a wide staircase, a bar is immediately to your right alongside the wall and you're already on the dance-floor. The entrance is parallel to the stage and the hallway to coat check/bathroom. Across from the side of the main bar is the dj booth, then a staircase up alongside the stage , leading to the upstairs/second bar. The dancefloor got cramped , and because of all of the adjacencies there were always people coming in and going out from every direction. If you know what I mean. I found it difficult to dance truly comfortably and completely freely with it being so hot and packed. I opted to dance on the upper bar level, which was a nice relief from the crowding but the sound system for the dj doesn't reach so well up there. Overall such a lovely space and vibe though :)

PlayStation Theater is a great venue! I like that it's tiered so you can see the stage even if you're farther back in the crowd, and they also have TVs set up hanging from the ceiling so you can watch from the seats in the back as well. It was a perfect sized venue for the concert I went to. The drinks are a little pricey, but that's true anywhere you go to a show in my experience, so it didn't put me off the venue. They also sell fresh pizza by the outside bar. The restrooms were super clean as well.
